After the slew of moves made this week, including the #1 and #2 picks being moved, there is a lot of buzz surrounding this year’s NFL Draft. Let’s take a look at SportsTalkATL’s final edition of our NFL Mock.
1. Los Angeles Rams- QB Jared Goff, California
- The Rams gave up a lot to get this pick, the Titans came away with a lot of good picks, the Rams are hoping they come away with a franchise quarterback. Todd Gurley in the backfield will be good for Jared Goff as he learns the game.
- Alternate Pick: QB Carson Wentz, North Dakota State
2. Philadelphia Eagles- QB Carson Wentz, North Dakota State
- Let’s put this plainly, the Eagles got juuged. Finessed. Bamboozled. Fooled. They gave up way too much to get a quarterback who has only faced Division II competition for the greater part of his career. Not a knock on Wentz, but he’s coming to a terrible franchise with no weapons. Good luck, kid.
- Alternate Pick: QB Jared Goff, California
3. San Diego Chargers- OT Laremy Tunsil, Ole Miss
- The Chargers could go with the best player available and take Ramsey, but their anemic offensive line is more important. They need to provide support for an aging Philip Rivers and attempt to get Melvin Gordon’s career started.
- Alternate Pick: CB/S Jalen Ramsey, Florida State
4. Dallas Cowboys- CB/S Jalen Ramsey, Florida State
- Dallas has a lot of needs, but their needs at receiver and interior defensive lineman can be addressed later in the draft. Dallas was dead last in turnovers created last season, and Ramsey can immediately provide an upgrade to their below average secondary.
- Alternate Pick: DE Joey Bosa, Ohio State
5. Jacksonville Jaguars- LB Myles Jack, UCLA
- Myles Jack is a tremendous athlete with excellent ball skills, he even played some running back at UCLA. He sat out after tearing his ACL, and he should be ready to go to start the season. Could be the best player taken in this draft.
- Alternate Pick: DE Joey Bosa, Ohio State
6. Baltimore Ravens- DE Joey Bosa, Ohio State
- Bosa has some character concerns, but his natural talent will keep him in the top 10. Bosa had a “production dropoff” in 2015, but if you watch the tape, it’s because he was being triple teamed most games.
- Alternate Pick: Vernon Hargreaves III, Florida
7. San Francisco 49ers- DE DeForest Buckner, Oregon
- DeForest Buckner has been regarded as an all or nothing pick in this draft. He’s been labeled a potential bust, but he’s got huge hands and good speed. I think he’ll be an excellent pass rusher.
- Alternate Pick: OT Ronnie Stanley, Notre Dame
8. Cleveland Browns- RB Ezekiel Elliot,  Ohio State
- The Browns made a great move acquiring picks from Philly. The Eagles will be picking in the top 10 again next year, and Cleveland may be looking at 2 top ten picks. Zeke is loved in Ohio, and he should be a solid building block. The Browns now need to pick good players with these picks, something they’ve had problems with in the past. No players, including Brandon Weeden, remain on their roster from the Julio Jones trade.
- Alternate Pick: CB Vernon Hargreaves III, Florida
9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- CB Vernon Hargreaves III, Florida
- Tampa’s secondary was pretty bad last year, but Jameis Winston had a solid rookie campaign. They have a lot to build on, but this draft is key for them in this transitional period. Hargreaves has the makings of an elite corner.
- Alternate Pick: OT Ronnie Stanley, Notre Dame
10. New York Giants- OLB Darron Lee, Ohio State
- New York’s secondary was also very poor last year, but they missed on Hargreaves. They need to look for secondary later in the draft, but I think Darron Lee is the best player on the board at this point. Their linebacking corps needs work anyways.
- Alternate Pick: Trade Down, CB Eli Apple, Ohio State
11. Chicago Bears- DE Shaq Lawson, Clemson
- Chicago’s defense needs some help, and Lawson will be a great upgrade to their pass rush. They may be in the market for a Quarterback in the next draft. Possibly Shaq Lawson’s old teammate, Deshaun Watson?
- Alternate Pick: DE/OLB Leonard Floyd, Georgia
12. New Orleans Saints- OT Ronnie Stanley, Notre Dame
- The Saints are another team that missed on Hargreaves, but Delvin Breaux had a solid rookie campaign. Their defense is pretty bad, but protecting an aging Drew Brees may prove to be more important.
- Alternate Pick: DE/OLB Leonard Floyd, Georgia
13. Miami Dolphins- OT Jack Conklin, Michigan State
- The Dolphins have a hole at guard, and moving Conklin to Left Tackle could help Ryan Tannehill’s career. If not, they may also be taking a look at Deshaun Watson.
- Alternate Pick: CB Eli Apple, Ohio State
14. Oakland Raiders- DE/OLB Leonard Floyd, Georgia
- The Raiders looked really good last year, and a combonation of Floyd and Mack could get really nasty, really quick. Khalil Mack is a monster, but he can’t do it alone.
- Alternate Pick: LB Reggie Ragland, Alabama
15. Tennessee Titans- OT Taylor Decker, Ohio State
- The Titans were expected to take Tunsil with the 1st pick, so another offensive tackle makes sense here. They need to protect Mariota, or he’ll become a waste of a pick.
- Alternate Pick: CB Eli Apple, Ohio State
16. Detroit Lions- DT/DE Jarran Reed, Alabama
- The Lions never really replaced Suh or the painfully average Nick Fairley, so Jarran Reed will be a nice fit. Reed’s teammate Jonathan Allen stayed at Alabama, so he’s likely to be the first Alabama player off of the board.
- Alternate Pick: DT A’Shawn Robinson, Alabama
17. Atlanta Falcons- LB Reggie Ragland, Alabama
- The Falcons get exactly what they need in round 1. They get a coverage linebacker who can mash and plays the ball. Ragland has potential to be a top linebacker in this league, and Dan Quinn can be the perfect coach for him; look at Bobby Wagner.
- Alternate Pick: DT A’Shawn Robinson, Alabama
18. Indianapolis Colts- DT A’Shawn Robinson, Alabama
- 3 Bama boys in a row. I Could see Indy taking another Alabama player, Center Ryan Kelly, in this spot, but interior lineman are easier to acquire in later rounds. A’Shawn Robinsons are not available in later rounds.
- Alternate Pick: C Ryan Kelly, Alabama
19. Buffalo Bills- DT Sheldon Rankins, Louisville
- Rex Ryan will look to improve his already stout defense, and the Bills could be looking at a playoff run in 2016. Rankins is projected to go higher by Todd McShay, but I think he’ll find a home in Buffalo
- Alternate Pick: WR Laquon Treadwell, Ole Miss
20. New York Jets- QB Paxton Lynch, Memphis
- There are murmurs that the Jets will take Lynch here, and I absolutely buy it. Teams will reach for Quarterbacks, and the Jets have done it in the past with Geno Smith. If not, I think they go for more defense.
- Alternate Pick: CB Eli Apple, Ohio State
21. Washington Redskins- CB Eli Apple, Ohio State
- The Redskins were starting an undrafted free agent Wide Receiver from Florida at cornerback in 2015. Moving on.
- Alternate Pick: CB William Jackson III, Houston
22. Houston Texans- WR Will Fuller, Houston
- DeAndre Hopkins is an absolute monster, and Will Fuller is lightning quick. They could be a dangerous receiving combo for Osweiler, even though I’m not buying the hype just yet.
- Alternate Pick: WR Corey Coleman, Baylor
23. Minnesota Vikings- WR Laquon Treadwell, Ole Miss
- Teddy Bridgewater gets a big time weapon. Treadwell is a deep threat with good hands, he reminds me a lot of Brandon Marshall. He should give help to Minnesota’s offense from day 1
- Alternate Pick: WR Corey Coleman, Baylor
24. Cincinnati Bengals- WR Corey Coleman, Baylor
- Cincy is in the same boat as Houston, they need a compliment to a top 6 or top 7 receiver in the NFL. They should also consider replacements for the idiots they have at linebacker and corner.
- Alternate Pick: WR Josh Doctson, TCU
25. Pittsburgh Steelers- CB William Jackson III, Houston
- Pittsburgh is notorious for not selecting defensive backs in the draft, but I think their hand is forced in this one. They have all the pieces on offense, time to get better on D.
- Alternate Pick: DE Emmanuel Ogbah, Oklahoma State
26. Seattle Seahawks- DT/DE Robert Nkemdiche, Ole Miss
- Nkemdiche’s character concerns have dropped him from 1st overall in this draft, but he can go into a system in Seattle that will take his career to the next level. If he can plug into Pete Carroll’s system, the Seahawks get a steal at 26.
- Alternate Pick: DT Andrew Billings, Baylor
27. Green Bay Packers- DE Emmanuel Ogbah, Oklahoma State
- The Pack get a valuable pass rush asset, who some think could be the best player in this draft. Ogbah is a high risk, high reward pick that I really like for Green Bay.
- Alternate Pick: DT Andrew Billings, Baylor
28. Kansas City Chiefs- CB Mackensie Alexander, Clemson
- After losing Sean Smith, the Chiefs can get a tremendous cover corner with this pick. After a spectacular rookie season from Marcus Peters, he may be ready to move into the limelight.
- Alternate Pick: DE Kevin Dodd, Clemson
29. Arizona Cardinals- C Ryan Kelly, Alabama
- After getting absolutely manhandled by Carolina, the Cards may find use for the 3 year starter and All-American. Kelly has played guard and tackle, so he’s versatile. Scouts love his toughness, it may not be a sexy pick, but it’s a good one.
- Alternate Pick: DT Andrew Billings, Baylor
30. Carolina Panthers- DE Kevin Dodd, Clemson
- Carolina needs to replace Jared Allen, and as of yesterday, Josh Norman. With Kelvin Benjamin returning, Carolina will get better without doing anything in this draft.
- Alternate Pick: S Vonn Bell, Ohio State
31. Denver Broncos- OT Germain Ifedi, Texas A&M
- Denver’s only weakness last year outside of QB was their terrible offensive line. If Paxton Lynch is here, I think they pull the trigger on him.
