3 Bold Predictions: Falcons Versus Vikings

Falcons defense holds Adrian Peterson to under 80 yards rushing

Peterson has staked his claim as the best running back in the NFL over the years. Coming off a year in which he was suspended for conduct, Peterson said he was eyeing the NFL single season rushing record once again. Peterson will not reach that mark, but he did just eclipse the 1,000 yard rushing mark in last Sunday’s loss to the Packers. Peterson has only held under 80 yards in three games this season, but may change this Sunday. The Falcons defense against the run has been spectacular all season. They rank first in rush defense allowing just over 87 yards per game on the ground and 3.6 yard per attempt. Peterson is a different kind of animal, but the Atlanta defense should be up to the task and force Teddy Bridgewater to beat them through the air.

Stefon Diggs eclipses 100 yards receiving

Diggs was drafted in the 5th round by the Vikings in this year’s draft and has quickly become Teddy Bridgewater’s main target. He is fast and has a terrific ability to get open. With the Falcons’ defense keying in on Adrian Peterson, Bridgewater should have plenty of opportunities to sling the rock, and unless the Falcons pass rush can find a way to get to the quarterback, Diggs should be in for a big day receiving.

Atlanta is able to pull out a much needed victory

The Vikings are an under the radar team in the NFC. They have a much improved defense, an emerging quarterback and of course the best running back in the NFL. Atlanta has lost four of their last five games an have not looked like the same team that started 5-0. The Falcons have continuously found new and creative ways to beat themselves on the offensive side of the ball. However, if they can stop these boneheaded mistakes, they actually are one of the top teams in the NFC. This is more of a gut feeling than anything. Atlanta needs this home win if they want to reach the playoffs this season. They are the more talented team playing in their home building. Atlanta reduces the mistakes and pulls out a much needed home victory over the Vikings.
