Braves dodge huge bullet after extraordinary injury to Johan Camargo

In one of the most bizarre events in the MLB this season, Johan Camargo went down with what appeared to be a serious knee injury before the game even began. Just as the team was trotting on the field to begin the ballgame, Camargo appeared to miss a step, and the result looked detrimental.

Camargo can be seen in excruciating pain holding his knee, an unwelcome site in any sports game. The rookie shortstop was pulled from the game, helped off the field and taken to the locker room to have an MRI on the knee.

Luckily, the MRI revealed no structural damage according to Braves beat writer for MLB.com, Mark Bowman.

Even out of playoff contention, the Braves clearly dodged a bullet here. A serious knee injury could have seen Camargo sidelined for all of next year as well, and there would have been a great possibility he never would be the same player. For now though, Camargo will be out from anywhere from ten days to two weeks.
