Braves Trade John Cornely to the Red Sox

Shortly after being designated by assignment by the Braves to make room for Nick Masset on the 40-Man Roster, RHP John Cornely has been traded to the Red Sox for cash considerations. Cornely saw a very short stint in Atlanta, in which he gave up 4 earned runs in a single inning. Cornely has fared better in the minors, and has posted a 4.42 ERA in AAA this year. He did pitch well in Mississippi last season, which maybe sparked Boston’s interest. Cornely will head to AAA Pawtucket.
