Braves fans got the ultimate surprise on July 4th, when it was announced that Freddie Freeman had been activated and inserted in the lineup. Freddie will make the move over to third base and will come back almost a month before anticipated from a broken wrist.
The middle of the Braves’ lineup will now feature the hard-hitting trio of Matt Adams, Matt Kemp, and Freeman. The Braves are currently a game under .500 and have a big month ahead of them. Freeman’s return could not come at a more convenient time, as the Braves have momentum and play two of the best teams this week in Houston and Washington. The Braves essentially have a month to decide whether to go all in on a playoff run or sell off assets.
The Braves have had great success late in games, and the way they have been playing lately suggests that they may be a special team. However, these upcoming series will determine their fate. The good news is they just got back one of the best players in baseball.
