Freeman injured, benches clear as Braves beat Blue Jays

The Braves up and down ways continued on Wednesday as they defeated the Blue Jays 8-4 for the third night in a row. Their recent run of 5 wins in their last 6 games comes after losing 6 games in a row. Atlanta has been a model of inconsistency in this first quarter of the season, but will have a chance to gain some ground against the first place Nationals in their upcoming series this weekend.

The Braves will likely be without Freddie Freeman for that series, who left Wednesday’s game after being hit in the hand by a pitch. Freeman was in visible pain and immediately went into the tunnel. Initial X-rays came back inconclusive and further tests will be preformed to see how long the MVP-candidate will miss.

Wednesday’s game also featured a little extracurricular activity. Benches cleared when Jose Bautista launched a home-run over the left field wall, and proceeded to flip his bat high into the air and take a nice look at pitcher Eric O’Flaherty. O’Flaherty later trolled Bautista after the games saying, “I’m surprised he’s ready to fight after last year.” Of course, O’Flaherty is referring to when Rougned Odor connected on a punch in a scuffle after Bautista slid hard into second. It has been a rough year for Bautista and the Blue Jays. The Braves will look to make it a bit rougher tomorrow by completing a four-game sweep.
