Hawks Bring Back Kris Humphries

The Hawks have decided to bring back big man Kris Humphries on a one-year, $4 million deal according to the Vertical.

This is a great move by the Hawks with little risk. Humphries was brought in last season after the team lost Tiago Splitter for the season. The basketball/reality TV star did not disappoint, giving the team more presence on the boards and even stretching out the floor with improved jump shot. He played a big role for the team down the stretch, but was MIA early in the postseason. Coach Bud quickly realized that Humphries’ effort on the boards was critical to their success. His playoff performance is likely a big reason why the team opted to bring him back.

With Tiago Splitter, Mike Muscala, and Edy Tavares on the books and Mike Scott’s contract now guaranteed for next season, there could be a move in the works here for the Hawks. Humphries essentially replaced Splitter so there is a good chance the Hawks may look to move him or another back up big man. As of now, the Hawks have a full roster, however, and this could be the final product headed into next season.

Kris simply played like a Hawk. Unlike most players, he fit in the system immediately. He played physical and hustled at all times. Dwight Howard and Humphries could elevate the Hawks from being one of the worst rebounding teams last season to being one of the best in 2016-17.
