Atlanta Falcons starting running back Tevin Coleman was carted off the field due to an injury to his ribs against the New York Giants. The injury was reported not serious at first, but reports have shown that Coleman has cracked ribs and will miss some time. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported a timetable on the next time to expect Coleman to suit up for the team.

With everything going well for Atlanta thus far, it is unpleasant news to hear. Coleman earned the starting job in training camp and preseason, and he has looked like the halfback the Falcons have been searching for. He had nine carries for 32 yards against New York before his injury. Expect Devonta Freeman to be the starter, and anticipate the Falcons to be shopping around in the market for a free agent running back.

Paul Worrilow was the other notable injury to report in Sunday’s game. Head coach Dan Quinn told ESPN Falcons beat writer Vaughn McClure the update on Worrilow.

That comes as great news to the team. Worrilow has been incredible so far this season, and he has been the leader the Falcons have needed on defense. He left the game in the first half, but returned in the second half to help the team to victory.
