Injury riddled Falcons bring in Zac Kerin to fill out line

Zac_Kerin

The Falcons were already on the wrong side of the injury bug after week 1, but now it has struck the offense. Andy Levitre has hit IR with a triceps injury, and the team took little time bringing in reinforcements.

This is where Zac Kerin comes in. He was signed by the Falcons earlier today. Kerin has been merely a backup to this point but has come a long way from being a UDFA. The Vikings had him for a few seasons and he was later picked up by the Lions. Unfortunately, he was placed on IR to end last season. He has most recently been on the Giants roster but was released on the first of the September.

It is obvious this is merely a depth move, a body to fill out the roster as the Falcons go down the road of “next man up”. Wes Schweitzer will fill in for Levitre in his absence. Kerin has less than a full NFL season of playing time, and most of that was spot action. It would be foolish to have high expectations to go with this signing, but the Falcons have added another body to the O-line.
