It was not the ideal game for Atlanta in last night’s preseason game against Miami, especially with injuries happening to some very important players on the team. Keanu Neal hurt his knee in the first quarter. Neal never returned, but both he and head coach Dan Quin reiterated that the injury was not serious. ESPN analyst Adam Schefter broke the news this morning about the severity of Neal’s injury.

Neal played very well before the injury. He had five solo tackles and a tackle for loss. On the tackle for loss, Neal lowered his should and obliterated Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi. Luckily for organization, this was a minor injury. The Falcons begin their season on September 11 against the Buccaneers, which is 17 days from today. Neal will likely miss opening day, but Atlanta should be thankful this was not a lot worse.
