Prospects Who Are Trending Up For Atlanta

The 2016 Draft Class

Bryse Wilson: 1-0, 8 IP, 0.00 ERA, 9 K

Joey Wentz: 0 ER in 12 IP, 18 K (Promoted to Danville, Still Hasn’t surrendered a run since Junior year of High School.)

Ian Anderson: 0 ER in 6 IP, 4 K

Kyle Muller: 2.08 ERA in 8.2 IP, 10 K

Together: 37.2 IP, 17 H, 2 ER, 44 K, 13 BB

These guys have a combined 0.55 ERA, and while they’re only in rookie ball, they give Braves fans a lot to be excited about. On a side and very sad note, Kyle Lewis left yesterday’s game on crutches. Yikes.

Austin Riley

Baseball America now has Austin Riley ranked 6th in Atlanta’s organization, Wow. Riley deserves the attention though, hitting .263 with 25 Doubles, 8 Home Runs, and 41 RBI. His defense is improving too, and he may stick at third base.

AJ Minter

On July 19th, AJ Minter accomplished an amazing feat. For the 3rd game in a row, he struck out the side, which tallied 11 straight strikeouts. On the season, he has 21.2 IP, 0.42 ERA, 30 Ks and only 5 walks. He is averaging 22 strikeouts per 9 innings. Closer of the future?

Patrick Weigel

3.05 ERA out of the pen, 99 K in 97.1 IP. Left handed guy who throws gas, projects as a setup man in the MLB.

Caleb Dirks

Dirks hasn’t given up a run in Mississippi in 6 games. The future of this bullpen is starting to look absolutely lethal. 10 Strikeouts in 10.2 IP since his return from LA. Great move by Coppolella.

Dansby Swanson

Dansby had a rough patch after his close friend and Vandy teammate Donnie Everett passed away, but he has suddenly found his power stroke. He’s up to .282 with 8 HRs to go along with 23 Doubles and 4 Triples. He’s hit 2 inside-the-park home runs this season.

Since Dansby and Albies have been reunited in Mississippi: Albies has hit .388/.457/.525 and Swanson has hit .310/.379/.500

Derian Cruz & Cristian Pache

Our lone international signings from 2 years ago have been workhorses so far this season.

Pache– .305, 7 RBI, 7 SB, 4 Outfield Assists in 21 Games.

Cruz– .313, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 4 SB

Ronald Acuna

Acuna is hitting .300 with 2 HR in Rome this year , and since his recovery from a wrist injury, he’s playing for a promotion at the young age of 19.

Kolby Allard

In Danville, Allard went 2-0, 0 ER, 14 K in 13 IP. Appalachian League player of the week, and has been promoted to Rome.

Alex Lee

Alex Lee isn’t a household name to Braves fans, but the First Baseman out of Samford went 7-7 with 3 HR in his past 2 games, and is hitting .432 in 13 Games in the GCL. 22nd round pick.

Dilmer Mejia

Another unknown name, Mejia is off to a hot start, another international signing making some noise. 1-1, 1.77 ERA in 20.1 IP, 16 K
