Thabo Sefolosha: Not Guilty

“Thabo Sefolosha: Not Guilty”, those were the words of Hawks play-by-play announcer Bob Rathbun in this tweet he sent out following the verdict of the Thabo Sefolosha case.

Sefolosha, along with former Hawk Pero Antic, was arrested in an April 8th altercation with the police after a stabbing in a New York night club. Antic’s charges were dropped, but the charges of obstructing governemnt administration, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest stuck to Sefolosha.

Sefolosha suffered a broken right leg after the altercation with the officers that forced him to miss the remainder of the season. A video of the incident can be seen here

As can bee seen in the video, the incident turns physical between Sefolosha and several officers, as they proceeded to break his leg in the process of the arrest. The jury came back with a not guilty verdict to all the charges in a relatively fast manner.

The whole Hawks organization was relieved when Sefolosha was acquitted of the charges. Sefalosha, who is now fully recovered from his leg injury suffered in the incident, will return to the team and could be available to play in Wednesday’s preseason game versus the Spurs.
