The Wait is Over! Bye Bye Fredi!

After six seasons with the club, the Braves finally decided to part ways with manager Fredi Gonzalez. This move comes as no surprise, as there had been reports that Fredi’s job was in jeopardy in recent weeks. Though the club had a few good seasons under Gonzalez, they had no playoff success and he garnered a reputation for being one of the worst in-game tacticians in the game.

The fanbase has been calling for this move for years, and while no manager could win with the team’s current roster, it was time for a fresh start for the Braves. If Atlanta had a media market with the likes of a city such as Boston or New York, Gonzo would have been Gone-zo a long time ago. It also didn’t hurt that Bobby Cox handpicked him to be his successor.

Brian Snitker, who has been with the organization since being drafted in 1977, has been named the interim manager for the time being. Potential replacements that have been named include Bud Black, Eddie Perez, Terry Pendleton, Mark Derosa, and David Ross.

Sorry “Frediot”, you will not be missed.
