In a wild series of events, the Atlanta Hawks have received the rights to former New York Knicks shooting guard, Tim Hardaway Jr. Hardaway Jr. could be a big get for Atlanta because he is young and his potential is sky high. He averaged 11.5 points per game in 2014 while shooting 38.9% from the field. Playing on a dreadful Knicks team, Hardaway was able see a lot of minutes at a young age. He is only 23 years old, and he was the Knicks best player last year, which probably is not impressive to many. However, if he can improve his defense, he could fill in nicely for Demarre Carroll (if he is not re-signed).
Hardaway is listed as a shooting guard, but has the skill set and size to play the small forward position. Hardaway is a streaky shooter, but when he is hot he can flat out get buckets. The Hawks needed to find more offense heading int0 the 2015-2016 season, and Hardaway should definitely bring some with him.We will see what Hardaway Jr. brings in 2015 as an Atlanta Hawk, but we are happy about what happened. Hardaway is a more proven commodity than any of the picks, and will be a great piece for the Hawks. If our player development can do with him what we have done with others, we may look back at this trade and think it’s a steal.
