Young Stars Shine Bright For The Braves In Sarasota

The Braves took on Baltimore for the 2nd day in a row after last night’s 4-4 tie. Atlanta won 11-4, the Braves collected 14 hits and Aaron Blair had a good inning before slipping up in the 2nd. Mallex Smith stole the show, hitting 2 triples in the same inning. Atlanta also got a big effort from Ozzie Albies.

Notable Box Score Highlights:

Mallex Smith: 4-6, HR, 2B, 2 3Bs, 3 RBI. (Single Shy of Cycle)

Ozzie Albies: 3-5, HR, 3 RBI

Jeff Francoeur: RBI Double

Dansby Swanson: 0-5

Aaron Blair: 2 IP, 5 H, 4 ER

Ellis, Carpenter, Gant, Rutckyj, Thurman: 7 IP, 0 ER

Great all around effort from the younger guys today. It was good to see that even though Swanson and Blair didn’t play well, the rest of the team seemed to pick up the slack. Dansby had a rough first day at the office, but he’ll adapt and get some good reps this spring. The future looks bright for the Braves, this is going to be a fun Spring Training team to watch.
