5 Tight End Sleepers for 2015

Owen Daniels- Although Daniels is up there in age, as he will be 33 this season, his production was steady last season with the Ravens. With the loss of Dennis Pitta, Daniels stepped in as the starting tight end and caught 48 balls for 527 yards and 4 TDs. This season, Daniels heads to Denver to play in Peyton Manning’s high-octane offense. Both of Manning’s premier tight ends left this offseason to different organizations, so the veteran Daniels will be seeing a lot of snaps for the Broncos this season. Expect Manning to target Daniels often and especially in the red zone. Daniels goes undrafted in many 10-team leagues, but could easily end up being a top-10 fantasy tight end option in 2015, and is a very safe pick late in your fantasy draft.

Jordan Reed- Reed began to emerge as the Redskins starting tight end at the end of the 2013 season. He entered the 2014 season with high expectations, but injuries only allowed him to play in 11 games. He still caught 50 balls for 465 yards and showed that he can be a featured tight end in the NFL. At 25, he is entering his physical prime and could be in for a true breakout year in 2015. RGIII will be back under center for the Redskins at the beginning of the season, so it will be key for him and Reed to create some chemistry early in the season. If Reed plays all 16 games, he will be a top 10 fantasy tight end this seeason, and he should be drafted in all leagues.

Maxx Williams- Williams is a player I have been very high on since before the NFL draft. He stand at 6 feet 4 inches, weighs 250 pounds, and is extremely athletic for his size. He come into 2015 expected to carry the load at the tight end position for the Ravens in 2015. Joe Flacco targets tight ends at an extremely high rate, so if Williams can establish himself early as “the guy”, he will be in for a monster year and possibly even a monster career. He is that good, and while it might not be this year that he is a top-10 fantasy tight end, he will be one in the future. Williams is going undrafted in almost every 10-teams league, but if you get towards the end of the draft and have nobody to pick, Maxx Williams should be your guy.

Jacob Tamme- Tamme is another name most fantasy owners have not thought about in years. He spent every year of his career with Peyton Manning, but this year he seperates from Manning and joins the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons had absolutely dismal tight end play last year, so they bolstered their depth chart by adding Jacob Tamme And Tony Moeaki. Tamme looks to be the opening day starter for the Falcons, and Ryan loves a big safety blanket. If Tamme and Ryan can develop chemistry, Tamme could have a nice year for the Falcons and possibly end up a top-10 tight end.

Virgil Green- Green is a way under the radar sleeper to most people. He is the other tight end other than Owen Daniels on the Broncos roster. While Owen Daniels was a nice addition, he is not the long term solution at tight end for the Broncos. That guy might be Virgil Green. Green is another big physical tight end standing at 6 feet 3 inches and 250 pounds. He looks a lot like another Julias Thomas out there on the field for Manning to throw too and he has that same type of athleticism. The Broncos made sure they re-signed Green this offseason, so it very well could be a sign they have high expectations for the future of Green as their starting tight end.  If Virgil Green establishes himself as the Broncos tight end early in the season, he could be in a monster year given the situation he is in.
