5-time Pro Bowl WR Jarvis Landry to visit Falcons

The Falcons receiving core is notoriously underwhelming. As the roster stands today, Olamide Zaccheaus may be the only wideout under contract that could crack any team’s top four. Calvin Ridley has been suspended for the entirety of the 2022 season, and Russell Gage signed with the Bucs. It’s an understatement to say Atlanta needs pass catchers this offseason.

They’ve reportedly been interested in former Packers wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling, a tall speedster that would threaten defenses over the top. And now, they have a visit scheduled with Jarvis Landry.

Landry has accrued five Pro Bowl seasons between his time in Miami and Cleveland, most recently in 2019. However, he is coming off the worst statistical year of his professional career in 2021 — 52 catches for 570 yards and two touchdowns. Landry and MVS are complementary pieces — both able to attack different parts of the field — so this would actually be a decent haul at the position.

The 29-year-old is a maestro in the slot. Landry is not the fastest, quickest, or biggest slot receiver, but he understands leverage and how coordinators want to defend him. The Falcons would be wise to sign him coming off an injury-riddled, career-worst season because it could come at a discount. Not only that, but Juice’s persona is exactly what the Falcons’ new regime is looking for.
