Atlanta Falcons rookie stat predictions: Brian Hill

Brian Hill began making an impact at Wyoming as early as his freshman season. It continued through his junior season, where he rushed for an astounding 1,860 yards and 22 touchdowns in only 14 games before entering the draft.

It is easy to see why Hill was selected, as he possesses skills the current Falcons running back duo does not. He is more of a downhill runner that seeks contact and blows through it. Immediately he could be a short yardage guy for the Falcons, which is a place the team has struggled at times with smaller running backs. Hill also excels at the little things. He only fumbled once last season in 349 rushing attempts and is an aggressive pass blocker.

One ESPN expert even voted Hill to be the most surprising late-round pick in this draft. With the Falcons currently loaded at running backs, Hill’s roll is going to be limited his rookie season. Look for him to be used sparingly and in certain short-yardage situations. But Devonta Freeman is entering the last year of his deal. If Hill can impress Falcons coaches in year one, it could directly affect whether Atlanta decides to lock up Freeman long-term.
