The Atlanta Falcons have selected Justin Hardy as their #107 pick in the NFL Draft. As a 4th round pick, Hardy is definitely a value pick for the Falcons. Cutting ties with Harry Douglas earlier in the offseason made wide receiver a position of need. The Falcons have a top duo in the league in Julio Jones and Roddy White, but White is aging and won’t be around forever. Devin Hester who is Number 3 on the depth chart is also getting older, and the Falcons need some young blood to accompany Jones. Hardy is the smart pick because he can come in right away and compete for a starting position. Standing at 5’10”, Hardy is the prototypical size at the slot receiver position. He has great hands, finds ways to get open, smooth hips, and is a very talented blocker. He set the FBS record for most career receptions (387). Hardy is a great short-route runner, but he needs to find ways to beat cornerbacks over the top. Running a 40-yard dash of 4.56, Hardy needs to work on his speed and explosiveness. This is a solid pick up for the Falcons, and Hardy will compete for the #3 spot from day one.
