Atlanta United could be acquiring a Veteran Center Back

According to Steven Goff, Atlanta United is close to bringing in veteran center back Bobby Boswell from DC United.

Boswell obviously has some years of experience to his name, but how has he faired in MLS play in his later years? The 34-year-old has played at DC United for most of his career, with a five-year stint in Houston as well. He has appeared in 355 MLS matches and has scored 18 times since 2005. He has played in 10 games so far this season for DC United, scoring one goal during that time – and also starting in the 3-1 win over Atlanta in the first half of this season.

If the veteran does get traded to Atlanta, it is not likely that he will replace any current starters on the back line, but he will definitely serve as a reliable sub when needed. DC United has gotten the better of Atlanta United this season, so we won’t complain about taking one of their defensive weapons.

Goff mentions that it isn’t known what Atlanta will give the worst team in the MLS for Boswell, but a draft pick is the most reasonable offer.
