Baseball America recently released their top-ten prospect list for the Braves, along with some other interesting notes about their current farm system:

Baseball America is very high on Shea Langeliers, and for good reason. Right now, they see him as Atlanta’s sure-fire catcher of the future, and I agree with them:

Catcher: Shea Langeliers (27)
First Base: Freddie Freeman (35)
Second Base: Ozzie Albies (28)
Third Base: Austin Riley (28)
Shortstop: Dansby Swanson (31)
Left Field: Michael Harris (24)
Center Field: Cristian Pache (26)
Right Field: Ronald Acuna Jr. (27)
Designated Hitter: Drew Waters (26)
I think Waters is an interesting designated hitter, and if you want to talk about one of the best young rosters in baseball, look no further, especially in the outfield. Jesse Franklin could absolutely challenge for one of those outfield spots as well.

No. 1 Starter: Max Fried (31)
No. 2 Starter: Mike Soroka (26)
No. 3 Starter: Ian Anderson (27)
No. 4 Starter: Kyle Muller (27)
No. 5 Starter: Huascar Ynoa (27)

I think the Braves will have some different starters in place, but obviously BA isn’t going to project trades or free agent signings this far into the future. Huascar Ynoa is the interesting name; it’s absolutely possible someone like Bryce Elder, Tucker Davidson, or Ryan Cusick unseats him by then.

While not all of these names are familiar to Braves fans, there are some very intriguing choices in here. Jesse Franklin as the best power hitter is very encouraging for a system that doesn’t have a ton of it at the moment. Freddy Tarnok’s curveball is part of the reason he was drafted so high out of high school, and watch out for Darius Vines to make an impact as a relief arm at some point.
