Braves: A mid-April return could be in the cards for Mike Soroka

Soroka's postgame reaction

After Kyle Wright was optioned to minor-league camp earlier this week, the rotation to begin the season looks to be set. Max Fried will take the mound on Opening Day. I imagine Charlie Morton will pitch the second game of the series against Philadelphia, followed by rookie Ian Anderson, Drew Smyly, and Bryse Wilson — who won the batt for the final spot in the starting rotation. However, it’s doesn’t look like it will be long before this group receives a substantial boost.

According to Brian Snitker, Mike Soroka, who is still recovering from the Achilles injury he suffered last August, pitched in another simulated game on Wednesday, and it went “very well.”

As you can also see from O’Brien’s tweet, it doesn’t look a return in April is out of the question as all; although there is no set timetable.

From the sound of it; however, we should get a clear idea of when Soroka might make his 2021 debut sooner rather than later. It shouldn’t take too long to figure out when he will be ready once he makes his first return to live-action. Hopefully, that happens before the end of Spring Training, especially since the minor-league season is pushed back over a month. The Stripers aren’t schedule to play until May 4th, so if Soroka is to return in April, he won’t have the chance to make any rehab starts.
