With the lockout officially over, expect Freddie Freeman to sign very soon. Several reports have suggested that he could be the first major free agent to sign, and there is no shortage of suitors. Of course, the Braves remain very interested in bringing back the face of their franchise, but the Yankees are also very much in the mix, and according to MLB insider Jon Morosi, the Dodgers can’t be counted out either.

Originally, I thought it would be tough for the Yankees to bring in another monster contract like Freeman. They already have a large payroll, and they obviously would like to extend Aaron Judge in the near future. However, there’s no questioning whether they have the money. It’s always been about whether they are willing to spend it. It looks like they are, and that’s not promising news for the Braves.

As Morosi states, though, the Dodgers can’t be counted out either. They have as deep of pockets as anyone, an opening at first base, and Freeman is a Southern California native.
