The Braves’ offense has been completely dormant for weeks, but yesterday, they exploded for 12 runs in a route of the Nationals. It was a much-needed win that featured several big nights from some key contributors that they desperately need to get going down the stretch, primarily Michael Harris II, who homered twice. It also put the Braves back in a tie with the Mets for the final National League Wild Card spot. Unfortunately, all of that has been put on the back-burner for a while after Reynaldo Lopez left the game in the second inning with shoulder tightness.
After the game, both Brian Snitker and Lopez spoke to the media. The All-Star pitcher had some good news for us, saying the initial tests came back negative. He hopes to avoid the IL, but they will still undergo an MRI today.
“All the test came back good. To be safe, we are going to get an MRI tomorrow.”

The Braves offense has been abysmal for most of the season. It doesn’t matter who has been healthy, and while the return of Ozzie Albies could certainly provide a boost, Atlanta doesn’t have a chance without its pitching staff at full strength.
The arms are the only reason why the Braves are still in the playoff race, and they’re the only reason this team could potentially win a World Series. Reynaldo Lopez has been a key cog in all of it. The 30-year-old is fresh off his first All-Star appearance and owns a 2.03 ERA over 24 starts. He’s provided the kind of depth in the rotation the Braves have been dreaming about for years, and his presence in a potential playoff series will provide a huge advantage if he can avoid anything serious.
