Braves, Dave Wallace mutually part ways

After spending the last three seasons as a pitching consultant for the Atlanta Braves, Dave Wallace and the team have mutually agreed to part ways:

Wallace, 72, signed on with Atlanta after retiring as the Orioles’ pitching coach back in 2016. It seemed he was phasing himself out from baseball at the time as he accepted a more passive role, and perhaps after 25 years of coaching, he is calling it a career. However, with Alex Anthopoulos actively revamping the scouting down on the farm, David O’Brien may be suggesting otherwise:

Perhaps Wallace, who has served as the pitching coach for Dodgers, Mets, Red Sox, Astros and Orioles was not a fan of his reduced role. He previously served as the Braves’ minor league pitching coordinator from 2010-2013 but left after clashing with a since-fired member of the Braves front office, per O’Brien. He was re-hired by John Coppolella, but Alex Anthopoulos likely wants to set up his scouting his way.

Regardless of what may have happened behind the scenes, we wish Wallace the best and thank him for his efforts on Atlanta’s staff over the past three seasons and in his previous stint with the team.
