It’s almost as if the Braves are being punished for all the good fortune they received in the first two games. Despite a 5-2 lead in the eighth last night, Atlanta spoiled a potential 3-0 series lead, and following a four-run explosion by LA, their LCS advantage was slashed to just one game.
It didn’t look like Charlie Morton would last too long on Tuesday. Just minutes after first pitch, the veteran gave up a two-run homer to Corey Seager, and with the Dodger crowd reaching over 51,000 strong, many of us were just hoping Morton could make it through three innings. However, the 37-year-old settled down, and when he finally called it a day after five innings, Atlanta led by three with just four frames to go.
A.J. Minter and Tyler Matzek combined to work a solid sixth and seventh, respectively, allowing just one hit and punching out four. But then the famous eighth inning came, and for Luke Jackson, it was a nightmare. Jackson allowed four of the five batters he faced in that inning to record a hit, though no hit was more demoralizing for the Braves than Cody Bellinger‘s three-run jack to tie the game.

The fun didn’t stop for the Dodgers: still in the eighth, three batters later, Mookie Betts doubled in a run off Jesse Chavez to go up 6-5. How on earth could this of happened?

The Atlanta bats went down quietly versus Kenley Jansen in the ninth as all three of Austin Riley, Joc Pederson and Adam Duvall struck out. Dodgers win.
I know this loss hurts. I mean the Braves literally had a three-run lead with just six outs to go, and instead of taking care of business and forcing an elimination on Wednesday, they friggin lost. These are the type of gut punches that can change the course of the series, so Atlanta has to be careful that it doesn’t allow LA to gain all the momentum. The Braves need some things to go their way tonight… and in a hurry. However, there’s no need to panic!
Game 4 on Wednesday begins at 8:08 PM (ET), with what appears to be potentially a bullpen game for Atlanta and a Julio Urias start for LA. Hopefully, the Braves bats come out swinging again.
