Freddie Freeman didn’t travel with the team to Kansas City because of a bone spur that has been bothering him of late. He even admitted he was a little worried after Sunday’s game, but before Tuesday’s matchup with the Royals, it was all positive news. Brian Snitker said, “I’ve heard he’s feeling a lot better.”

Jeff Francoeur echoed the same sentiment during the broadcast. Snitker also said before the team announced Freeman would not travel to Kansas City that if the playoffs were tomorrow, he would be in the lineup. The plan remains for him to join the Braves before their final series of the season in New York. Providing everything goes well, expect to see him in the lineup over the final three games to help him find a groove before the postseason. In the ten games prior to his injury, Freeman had three hits in his last 29 at-bats (.103 batting average) with no home runs, and only one extra-base hit.

Ender Inciarte is also progressing in his return. Last week, the Braves hoped he would be ready for the series in Kansas City, but they decided to hold off for a little and are now mulling their options. Inciarte traveled with the team and is scheduled to run the bases tomorrow, Brian Snitker told the media before Tuesday’s game. According to Mark Bowman of MLB.com, the Braves will decide whether to play him in New York or send him to Florida where he will receive more frequent at-bats. Either way, Inciarte is looking to prove he is healthy once again and can be a valuable piece to the postseason roster. However, given the multitude of injuries he’s suffered this season, that is going to be difficult to accomplish.
