The Braves announced some significant news earlier today, optioning Huascar Ynoa to AAA and finally DFA’ing Sean Newcomb, who can now be claimed by every other team on waivers. I do expect someone to take a flier on Newk. Even though he’s now 29-years-old, there’s too much power in his arm from the left side for everyone to pass on him. In all likelihood, Newcomb will have a new team by the end of the week, and he’s not alone.
The Braves also announced today that Jacob Webb, who was DFA’d last week, has been claimed by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Like I currently am with Newcomb, I was hoping Webb might clear waivers, even if I felt it was unlikely. You can never have too many arms in the organization, and Webb has flashed at times. Pitching is arguably the most volatile aspect in all of sports, so who knows when things might click for a talented arm like Webb or Newcomb.
Catcher Chadwick Tromp, who was DFA’d on the same day as Webb, cleared waivers and will be stashed in AAA Gwinnett.
