Braves: Julio Teheran is headed to Los Angeles

As I predicted multiple times on the podcast, Julio Teheran is headed to the Angels.

This move makes way too much sense, especially after the Halos lost out on Gerrit Cole. The Angels have had so many issues staying healthy within their rotation; they need a guy who can eat innings for cheap after inking Anthony Rendon. LA still owes Albert Pujols $60 million over the next two seasons to go along with Mike Trout and Rendon’s mega contracts, so Julio Teheran on a prove-it deal is a perfect option to plug up their rotation.

Since 2013, Teheran has never thrown under 174 innings, so he’s as consistent and as durable a pitcher that’s left on the market. This signifies the end of his time in Atlanta, and it was expected after hearing almost nothing about him in free agency. The most significant aspect of this is the fact that his opening day start streak is surely over, and it will be crucial for his career to pitch effectively in the American League this season. I wish the best for Julio and hope he can find the first-rate version of himself with LA and continues to have a long career. He was a tremendous Brave that never received enough credit, and it’s going to be weird seeing him in another uniform.
