Max Fried started for the second time of Spring Training 2.0 on Tuesday and looked sharp once again, going four scoreless innings. The lefty hasn’t missed a beat since the restart and is expected to get the ball in the second game of the season on July 25th against the Mets.

Earlier today, Brian Snitker announced Mike Soroka would be the Opening Day starter. Maple Maddux is set to become the youngest Opening Day starter in franchise history for the Braves — quite a feat considering the quality of pitchers that have made their name in Atlanta. It also breaks Julio Teheran’s franchise-record of six straight Opening Day starts, which was going to happen regardless since he signed with the Los Angeles Angels.

It’s only been a couple of outings, but the Braves starters have come back without missing a beat. Mike Soroka has looked fantastic as he works on his offspeed stuff going into the season; Max Fried has been just as effective, and Mike Foltynewicz was lights out in his only start of Spring Training 2.0. Brian Snitker and Alex Anthopoulos have reiterated that the starters will only go a few innings in their first go-around through the rotation. However, it doesn’t look like it will take much longer for the Braves horses to handle a full load.
