Braves: Max Fried will not pitch on short rest in Game 5

With a 2-1 series lead going into Game 4, the Braves will start Bryse Wilson tonight against the Dodgers. Hopefully, he can give the team a few good innings and a chance to win before Brian Snitker has to turn to his bullpen — something Kyle Wright was unable to do last night in Game 3.

We don’t know who will start Game 5 for the Braves, but unless something changes between today and tomorrow, it will not be Max Fried on short rest, Brian Snitker announced just minutes ago.

To be honest, I’m a little shocked. This likely means the Braves will roll with a bullpen game in Game 5, saving Fried and Anderson for Games 6 and 7 — if necessary. It sounds like Snitker is holding onto his best bullets for the very end. However, he will deservedly receive a lot of criticism for the way he is handling the rotation if the Braves end up losing the series in six, and Anderson never makes another appearance.

Hopefully, it doesn’t go down that road, and we will keep you posted with who will start Game 5 for the Braves as soon as it is announced.
