An hour past the deadline, the Braves officially announced they are not going to tender contracts for the 2025 campaign to Griffin Canning, Ray Kerr, Royber Salinas, Huascar Ynoa, and Ramon Laureano.

Per MLB Trade Rumors, here are the players and their arbitration estimates:
Braves Arbitration Candidates
- Ramon Laureano (5.159): $6.1MM
- Huascar Ynoa (3.117): $825K
- Jarred Kelenic (2.169): $2.3MM
- Dylan Lee (2.150): $1.2MM
- Eli White (2.140): $800K
- Griffin Canning (5.075): $5.1MM
Canning was always going to be non-tendered. Acquired in the Jorge Soler trade, the Braves can’t stash him in Gwinnett, so there was no sense in giving him $5 million. Keeping White as outfield depth was expected, and Atlanta has already invested considerable resources in acquiring Kelenic.
Dylan Lee was also a no-brainer. He’s been one of the most reliable relievers for Brian Snitker, and his presence is even more needed with Joe Jimenez potentially missing all of the 2025 campaign, along with A.J. Minter potentially leaving in free agency.
The most notable decision came on Laureano. In 67 games, Laureano hit .296 with 10 homers and an .832 OPS while playing more than respectable defense in the outfield. That’s a bargain at $6.1 million. However, in the 43 games with the Guardians prior to joining the Braves, he had a 43 OPS+ (57% below league average).
Though notable, the decision was not totally shocking. It doesn’t rule out the two sides coming back together and working out a deal at a cheaper rate. The Braves could use bodies in the outfield, and maybe he found something in Atlanta that he couldn’t in Cleveland.
