The Braves bullpen received a blow this afternoon, as the team announced Jacob Webb is heading to the 10-Day IL with a right elbow impingement. Huascar Ynoa has been recalled from AAA Gwinnett to take his place.

Webb has been a lifesaver in relief for Atlanta this season, recording a 1.39 ERA in 36 appearances. The boost he has given the bullpen is one of the primary reasons they rank third in the MLB in bullpen ERA and first in the National League. The injury doesn’t appear too severe, and this could only be precautionary, but pitchers and elbow issues are two things that do not belong in the same sentence. Hopefully, Webb can recover from this quickly and be back on the mound in Atlanta because the Braves are already thin in the pen as is.

On the bright side, Atlanta will get another opportunity to see Huascar Ynoa. The fireballer has burst up the ranks of the minors this year, as he began the season in High-A with the Fire Frogs. In his only appearance with the Braves, he tossed two scoreless innings against the Phillies and looked mighty impressive doing it. Ynoa can touch triple digits with his fastball and has a nasty slider to go with it. He is currently the 11th ranked prospect on MLB.com’s prospect list.
