Braves Report: Marcell Ozuna’s market is heating up

It’s taken long enough, but according to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, the market for Marcell Ozuna has heated up in recent days.

A few things to keep in mind — first, Marcell Ozuna said earlier this offseason that he views himself as more than just a DH. He thinks he can play in the outfield for years to come, and apparently, there are teams out there that agree with him. We’ll have to wait and see if the Braves are one of them.

Secondly, I just relayed a report from CBS Sports, where MLB insider Ken Rosenthal said he expects that there will be a DH in the National League in 2021 and beyond; it’s just a matter of Major League Baseball and the MLBPA coming to an agreement.

Finally, Morosi reported this weekend that the Braves are more focused on filling in their outfield than finding a replacement for Austin Riley at third base, so I expect them to still be in on the Marcell Ozuna sweepstakes. Hopefully, this debacle is soon coming to an end, and we’ll know if the Big Bear will be back in Atlanta next season.
