Colts interested in trading for Falcons QB Matt Ryan

There is reportedly a deadline for Matt Ryan’s future in Atlanta. The Falcons have until 4 pm today to either pay Ryan’s $7.5 million roster bonus, work out a new contract, or trade the greatest quarterback in franchise history. The Falcons will have plenty of suitors, too; at least one team is reportedly interested in trading for Ryan — the Indianapolis Colts.

Before the Falcons lost out on Deshaun Watson, it was assumed Atlanta would trade Ryan to the Seahawks, Steelers, or Colts. Given Indy’s roster, Ryan would make them Super Bowl contenders. It seems Chris Ballard is approaching each offseason with the mentality of finding a mercenary signal caller, and Ryan could be just that for Frank Reich. He’d be their best quarterback since Andrew Luck. It seems like a win-win, though the Colts don’t have a first-round pick to trade in this year’s draft.
