Dansby Swanson Promoted to AA, Albies Promoted to AAA

Atlanta’s two top fielding prospects have advanced to the next stages in their careers. Dansby Swanson will be headed to Mississippi and Ozzie Albies will be moving to Gwinnett.

Dansby Swanson hit .333/.441/.526 in Single A Carolina with a Carolina League leading 12 doubles. He also had an inside the park home run, so his electric play earned him Albies’ old spot in AA.

Ozzie Albies will now be the youngest player in AAA, and hit .369/.422/.512 over a span of 22 games. He was 2nd in the Southern League with 31 Hits. Albies also registered a Home Run and 2 Stolen Bases.

Both of these guys are slick with the leather, and hopefully one of them can replace Erick Aybar in the coming weeks. If Ozzie performs well in AAA, he could see the majors sooner rather than later. However, there is no need to rush either one and start the clock on their arbitration. The real question will be which one will play shortstop. If Albies arrives before Swanson, he’ll probably take over at short, and we could see Swanson at 2nd. At least Braves fans can be happy to see that the prospects are progressing, and these two at a very high rate.
