On September 29th, 2017, Dennis Schroder was arrested with three other men on misdemeanor battery charges. A video of the incident shows Schroder making contact with the victim, followed by the three other suspects who all struck the victim multiple times.
According to a report from Michael Cunningham of the AJC, the incident, which took place at a shopping center near Buford Highway, was later transferred to the Dekalb County District Attorney’s office. From there, it has been suggested that Schroder and the other three men all face felony aggravated assault charges due the serious injuries the victim suffered.

A maximum sentence for such a charge in the state of Georgia is 20 years. While it is unlikely Schroder would be facing such a sentence, it is not out of the question that Schroder could be looking at some sort of jail time and at the very least serious consequences.
Schroder has been known for his edgy behavior ever since joining the league in 2013. From the gold patch in his hair to his ultra-competitiveness both on and off the court, Schroder has shown he does not mind being different nor care what other people think. However, none of these things led one to expect this kind of unacceptable behavior.
The Hawks are in the midst of a rebuild and rumors have suggested that they might be looking to trade the 24-year old point guard this offseason. Issues like this one certainly will make that a much harder task to accomplish if that is the case.
