Devon Kennard is a player to watch for the Falcons

In a disgusting twist of irony, Devon Kennard was let go from Detroit after welcoming the guy who could become his replacement.

Kennard just turned 28 and is fresh off of back-to-back seven sack campaigns. He didn’t miss a game all of 2019 and even recovered 2 fumbles — one of which he forced. Kennard had more QB hits than anyone on the Falcons not named Grady Jarrett and is now an unrestricted free agent. I’ve already mentioned Leonard Floyd as a possibility, but Kennard has been better and could potentially come at a lower cost. The USC product signed a 3-year deal worth $17.7 million in 2018, but was cut for just a $1.75 million penalty this season. His base salary was slated to be $4.95 million before bonuses, and to me — that’s well worth it for seven sacks. Not too sure why Detroit would cut him, but you know what they say about one man’s trash.
