Early odds have Falcons as favorites in only one matchup this season

Football season is right around the corner, and for you gambling junkies, the greatest time of the year is back. Early odds indicate the Falcons will be favorites in only one of their contests.

When Atlanta meets up with Chicago, I’m sure it’ll be designated as the season’s toilet bowl. Both organizations are barren of talent at nearly every position. The Falcons are clearly rebuilding after trading away Matt Ryan, and the Bears are in a similar situation after cleaning house, firing Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace.

The only games not listed are against the Buccaneers and Cardinals, so I wouldn’t expect Atlanta to be favorites in those matchups either. Even at home against the Panthers, the Falcons are underdogs. Vegas believes the club will be horrendously bad, picking in the top five of the draft in 2023.

Nobody should be surprised, though; the organization is going through a transition after moving on from Matt Ryan. The new regime hasn’t exactly inspired much confidence with their decision-making either. It almost seems like they’re making it up as they go. One thing to look forward to for Falcons fans is the team’s outlook in free agency next offseason.

Atlanta is set to have $100+ million in cap space next year, which could go a long way in bolstering the trenches and skill positions. But as far as 2022 goes: the Falcons will be hard to watch, and oddsmakers know it.
