Falcons: A.J. Terrell highest PFF coverage grade among all corners

Falcons: AJ Terrell Greatness on display

The Falcons have a star in the making in A.J. Terrell. He’s experiencing a true breakout year, consistently holding opposing receivers hostage week in and week out. Atlanta’s defense is bare with talent, but they’ve got one cornerback spot locked down for the future. On Sunday, the former Clemson Tiger was targeted four times against the Jaguars and surrendered one catch for five yards. According to Pro Football Focus, he’s the highest-graded cornerback in coverage this season.

Here are a couple of pass breakups from Atlanta’s most recent victory over Jacksonville.

The Falcons will square off against the division-leading Buccaneers on Sunday, and it’s looking like Tampa Bay will be without one of Tom Brady‘s top targets in Antonio Brown. Obviously, Terrell can’t guard Chris Godwin and Mike Evans simultaneously, but this gives the Falcons secondary at least a fighting chance. Terrell will face some of the league’s best receivers in the season’s final six games — Evans, Godwin, D.J. Moore, Deebo Samuel, and Stefon Diggs. If Terrell isn’t rewarded with Pro Bowl or All-Pro honors, it’ll be a crime.
