Falcons: CBS Sports has the Falcons taking Matt Ryan’s heir in their post Week 4 Mock Draft

The Falcons fell to 1-3 on Sunday, and although it’s too early to start projecting draft position, Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports has the Falcons drafting the heir apparent to Matt Ryan.

Round 1, Pick 9: QB Matt Corral, Ole Miss

Corral has the tools to be a Lamar Jackson/Trey Lance/Josh Allen-type quarterback but he’s still incredibly raw. The Ole Miss offense never got going against Alabama over the weekend but Corral still completed 68 percent of his throws, didn’t throw a pick, and rushed for 55 yards. The Falcons have to upgrade the QB position, even though this isn’t a banner QB draft class.

I was with Wilson until his last sentence. The Falcons most certainly do not “have to upgrade the quarterback position”. Matt Ryan was excellent yesterday, and he was largely let down due to some drops, playcalling, and defensive performance. Regardless, I’m not 100% opposed to drafting his heir. Anyone who follows me on Twitter knows that I think Matt Corral is easily the best quarterback in this class:

There’s no denying Corral has incredible arm strength; the ball explodes out of his hand with almost no effort. He’s a plus athlete, and I think he’s the perfect type of player to develop under Matt Ryan if the Falcons decide to take their quarterback of the future. It’s a tough decision considering there is a ton of talent at multiple positions of need for the Falcons, not limited to offensive line, defensive line, edge rusher, cornerback, and safety.
