Falcons: Dan Quinn ready to make Kaleb McGary the full-time starter

Because of the heart procedure Kaleb McGary underwent a little over five weeks ago, his conditioning hasn’t been quite where it needs to be to handle 100% of the snaps, leading to the Falcons running a two-man platoon at right tackle in Week 1 with him and Ty Sambrailo, where they rotated every two drives. However, that is not what Dan Quinn would like to do going forward. He told Vaughn Mcclure of ESPN that he is just waiting for McGary to fully-recover. When that happens, he will be the full-time starter at right tackle.

The Falcons listed both Kaleb McGary and Jamon Brown as the first-string right tackle and first-string right guard, respectively, before their Sunday Night Football matchup with the Eagles.

McGary performed decently in his first outing as a pro, recording a grade of 56.6, according to PFF, which was far better than Jake Mathews and on par with Alex Mack and Chris Lindstrom (before he left with an injury). Now that Lindstrom is on IR, they really need McGary to hold down the right side of the line for good. Ty Sambrailo was the worst of the bunch in pass protection, winning only 11 out of 14 pass-blocking attempts. McGary won 21 out of 23.
