Falcons: Darqueze Dennard heading to IR

The Falcons just can’t catch a break. It started last week in Dallas. Not only did they blow a 20-point lead, but they also lost a boatload of players in the process. Then they did the same thing against Chicago in Week 3, blowing a 16-point fourth-quarter lead, and once again, lost more significant pieces. This time it is starting cornerback Darqueze Dennard heading to the IR with a hamstring injury.

This is especially discouraging because Dennard was amid the best performance of his season before going down late in the game versus the Bears. His absence over the final minutes certainly aided Chicago’s comeback, and he will be sorely missed against Aaron Rodgers and a scorching hot Green Bay offense.

Unless something changes significantly over the next couple of days, it looks like the Falcons will again be without Kendall Sheffield, and they will probably be missing A.J. Terrell as well, who tested positive for the coronavirus before last Sunday’s game. This secondary has been abused so far this season, and it’s hard to imagine it getting any better in Week 4 versus the Packers.
