Some of you may not be familiar with what an elevator speech is. It’s a term for what you would say to get your point across over the course of an elevator ride. It’s generally used when you are attempting to make a fantastic first impression in a short amount of time. It could land you a job, a date, or something better. There’s only so much time to create a reason for why a person should want to know more about you. Eric Bieniemy did that perfectly in his interview leading up to the Chiefs game against the Broncos this Sunday.

For an organization that has suffered through six years of meaningless coach speak, Bieniemy would be a breath of fresh air. From those sixty seconds right there, every organization in the league searching for a new head coach should want to learn more about the Chiefs offensive coordinator.
To be honest, I was shocked that Bieniemy didn’t land a job as a head coach last offseason after the Chiefs won the Super Bowl with a historic offense. That is probably because a lot of the credit for Kansas City’s play-calling is given to Andy Reid, but Reid has said many times that Bieniemy is just as much involved in the offense as he is, just like Matt Nagy was before him. On top of that, Mahomes has consistently praised Bieniemy for aiding his incredible development over the last few seasons.
With the Chiefs well on their way to another playoff run, it seems impossible that Bieniemy gets passed over again. If his results on the field weren’t enough, interviews like this should certainly be the icing on the cake. He’s done everything he possibly can in all facets as Kansas City’s offensive coordinator. Bieniemy should be a top candidate for the Falcons head coaching vacancy at season’s end.
