Falcons Lose Another Player for the Year due to Injury

An unfortunate injury will sideline another defensive player for the year. Defensive End Derrick Shelby has officially been placed on the IR due to tearing his achilles this past Sunday against Seattle. ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported the news moments ago.

Shelby was signed this past offseason to a 4 year/$18 million in order to help create a pass rush. Shelby started off slow, but you could see how much more he was progressing each and every week. He did not have a sack this season, but was creating penetration in the past couple of games.

The Falcons promoted safety Sharrod Neasman to the active roster.
