Falcons sign veteran safety Ron Parker to one-year deal

The Falcons bolstered their secondary on Monday, as they signed veteran safety Ron Parker to a one-year deal.

Parker should be considered quality depth. Though the Falcons already have two starters slotted in at safety in Keanu Neal and Ricardo Allen, Parker was a four year starter for the Kansas City Chiefs. In today’s passing league, and with so many injuries in the game, it makes to have as much secondary help as possible, and this is what Parker presents. He has also lined up at cornerback at times in his career.

Parker was undrafted out of Newberry College, and signed a five year deal with the Chiefs in 2015. It is hard not to love a player who defeats all odds and makes a career for himself as a starter in those situations. He was cut by Kansas City in March. Hopefully their loss will be the Falcons’ gain.
