Falcons: Top 2019 NFL draft prospects

th

With the regular season coming to a close in the next month, it’s time to shed some light on a few prospects that could have an immediate impact for the Falcons next year. While some of these players might seem far-fetched, Dimitroff has shown an aggressive side on draft day so none of them are out of reach.

1- Quinnen Williams (DT) Alabama

First on the list is Quinnen Williams. At 6-4 295 lbs, Williams is a monster up the middle. DQ preaches fast and physical and this kid is that and more. He has a quick get off and can take on double teams between the guard and the center. His talents will be on full display this weekend at Mercedes Benz Stadium. Keep an eye on how much penetration he gets against the stout Georgia O-line.

Projected: Top 5 pick

2- Ed Oliver (DT) Houston

Like Williams, Oliver is a monster at the defensive tackle spot. Coming in at 6-3, 291 pounds,  Oliver has recorded 54 tackles on the year, 3 sacks, and a forced fumble. He’s missed 4 games due to a “bone bruise” suffered in the Cougar’s game against Navy. That, along with a sideline altercation with his coach, has caused Oliver to drop on draft boards. If he keeps falling, the Falcons might have a real shot at drafting Oliver.

Projected: Top 10 pick

3- Clelin Ferrell (EDGE) Clemson

Ferrell at 6-4 265 lbs, is a strong edge rusher that has a knack for finding the QB. He overpowers his opponents and has a motor similar to Takk McKinley. Ferrell has 41 tackles (15.5 for a loss), 10.5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles on the season. The kid is a beast and could very well be available when the Falcons pick. Look out for him against Pitt in the ACC Championship on Saturday.

Projected: Top 10 pick

4- Ross Pierschbacher (G) Alabama

It’s no secret that the Falcons offensive line needs help. The root of the O-line problem isn’t at the center or tackle position—it’s at guard. With Fusco returning next year and Levitre likely leaving for free agency, the left guard position could be up for grabs and Pierschbacher could fill that vacancy. He played most of his collegiate career at left guard, where he was first team All-SEC, and just recently transitioned to center for the Crimson Tide. He would have no trouble making the transition back to guard for the Falcons since he played in an NFL-like system under Saban.

Projected: Late 1st – Early 2nd round pick

5- Beau Benzschawel (G) Wisconsin

Benzschawel, at 6-6 317 lbs, is a powerful guard that plays with high intensity. In 2017, Benzschawel was first-team All American and first-team All-Big Ten. He would offer Quinn the luxury of having a guard that is comfortable playing on either the right/left side. If Dimitroff traded down to select Benzschawel, he could also fill a need while picking up a few extra draft picks in the process.

Projected: Late 1st – Early 2nd round pick
