Fantasy Football: Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Week 5

Start ‘Em

Deshaun Watson

I’m always interested to see how a team reacts after the head coach is fired. I have a feeling this might galvanize the Texans, and there aren’t many better matchups for offenses than the Jaguars.

Teddy Bridgewater

By now, you know the trend — start the QB that is playing against the Atlanta Falcons. I have Aaron Rodgers in several leagues, and I’ve claimed Bridgewater in nearly all of them. If your QB has a tough matchup this week, consider snagging Bridgewater and starting him as a weekly fill in.

Kirk Cousins

Cousins is no longer a starting fantasy QB (if he ever was). However, he could be a great flier this week against the Seahawks, who own the worst pass defense in football — they’re allowing 401 yards through the air per game.

James Robinson

Robinson is entering RB1 territory. He’s completely taken over the Jacksonville backfield, and this week, he faces the team that has allowed the most rushing yards per game — the Houston Texans.

Mike Davis

Davis has proven to be a capable replacement for Christian McCaffrey. The Falcons don’t give up a ton of rushing yards to running backs, but they do give up a lot of receptions. The Panthers should score a lot in this one, & Davis should be in for his third consecutive 20+ point performance.

David Johnson

Johnson has underachieved thus far, but so had Joe Mixon before a meeting with the Jaguars. Mixon put up 42.1 points on Jacksonville. That’s going to be difficult to match, but Johnson should be good for 20+ for the first time this season.

Devonta Freeman

Freeman is my sleeper of the week. After being used sparingly in his first week with the Giants, he was the primary back last Sunday. I expect that to continue, and the Cowboys are allowing over 170 yards rushing a game. The Giants offense has been dreadful, but even they should be able to put points up on Dallas. There will be some opportunities for Freeman to score, and he should rack up a good amount of yards — both on the ground and through the air.

Tyler Lockett/DK Metcalf

Lockett and Metcalf are having fantastic seasons with Russell Wilson throwing them the football, and they have perhaps their juiciest matchup yet against the Vikings, who are allowing nearly 300 yards per game through the air.

Robby Anderson

Anderson has always been a guy that can pop off some ridiculous numbers on any given Sunday. Against the Falcons, somebody always does that, and my gut believes Anderson is going to be that player this Sunday.

Justin Jefferson

If you’re not on the Justin Jefferson bandwagon yet, hop on. The guy is legit. Not only should he be owned in all leagues, he should be started in all leagues, especially against a Seahawks pass defense that is non-existent.

Will Fuller

Fuller’s a boom or bust superstar, and this could be a big boom against a vulnerable Jacksonville pass defense.

Sit ‘Em

Joe Burrow

The Joe Burrow hype is warranted. He’s close to becoming a guy that needs to be started every week, especially with bye weeks beginning. However, this is a dreadful matchup against the Ravens. Baltimore can apply pressure, and the Bengals offensive line is still extremely suspect. Sit Burrow this week.

Carson Wentz

By now, there’s absolutely no reason you should be starting Carson Wentz, but especially this week against a stingy Pittsburgh defense.

Miles Sanders

Miles Sanders has been pretty good since returning in Week 2, but nobody has had success running against the Steelers, who are allowing just 54 yards on the ground per game.

Joe Mixon

After a rough start to the season, Mixon busted out for 42.1 fantasy points against the Jaguars. However, as long as he’s playing behind that offensive line, he will always be difficult to trust. The Ravens are giving up under 100 yards rushing per game, and this game could get out of hand early — forcing the Bengals to turn away from the running game.

Odell Beckham Jr.

It’s hard to sit Beckham Jr. after the week he just had, and if you own him, you’re starting him unless your roster is absolutely loaded. However, in DFS formats, I’m staying far away. The Colts are only giving up 160 passing yards per game, and I’m not trusting Baker Mayfield just yet.

A.J. Green

Green’s no longer a weekly fantasy starter, and this isn’t going to be the week he breaks. As I said with Burrow, I expect them to struggle in this one.

Terry McLaurin

I love McLaurin and have him in several leagues, but this is a tough spot he’s in this week. Jalen Ramsey will likely be following him around the field, and he has a new starting quarterback. Football Team benched Haskins in favor of Kyle Allen, who I have very little faith in.
