Adrian Clayborn, Falcons Agree to Deal

The Atlanta Falcons have reached a one-year deal with former first round selection Adrian Clayborn. The 6’3”, 280 pound former All-American out of Iowa can earn up to $4.5 million this season and fills a position of need for Atlanta. However, Clayborn comes in with a notable injury history, and he played only one game in the 2014 season. At age 26, the Defensive End is still young and has a high upside when healthy. In the two seasons in which he was healthy enough to play in 16 games, Clayborn notched 13.5 total sacks and 5 forced fumbles. Clayborn has high upside when on the field, but will he be able to stay away from the injury bug he has had? He offered a high motor, high effort, and high character during his time in Tampa, and we hope he will bring that here to Atlanta. Whether this signing affects the status with Atlanta’s negotiations with Derrick Morgan is yet to be seen, but this could spark speculation that the two parties will not get a deal done.
