Former top-five pick signs with the Hawks

Early Monday morning, news broke that the Hawks would be signing former top-five selection Thomas Robinson to a non-guaranteed contract.

The 6’10”, power forward was a load to handle for the Jayhawks in college but never found the same success in his transition to the NBA. His offensive skill set failed to adapt, and in a quick five years, he was out of the league altogether.

Today, his best attribute remains rebounding, something the Hawks can use some more of heading into next season. However, Atlanta already has the maximum amount of players (15) signed to guaranteed contracts next season. They even added Alex Len to beef up their frontcourt earlier this offseason. Unless an injury occurs, or Robinson really impresses over training camp, there is not a lot of reason to expect him to actually play for the Hawks this season.
